The VAD Bill 2020 has passed the first hurdle in the Legislative Council and has moved through to the Committee stage where amendments will be considered.

Support for the Second Reading was overwhelming, without a Division even being called. Over the three sessions when speeches have been made, 17 of the 22 Legislative Councillors have spoken. A majority of the MLCs who spoke indicated they are likely to support the VAD Bill at the Third Reading providing no major amendments are accepted.
