A new Voluntary Assisted Dying Bill was tabled in both Chambers of the South Australian Parliament on Wednesday December 2, 2020, by Hon Kyam Maher, MLC, in the Legislative Council and Hon Susan Close, MP, in the House of Assembly. The VAD Bill is modelled on Victoria's Voluntary Assisted Dying Act (2017). The VAD Bill was cosponsored by Hon Mark Parnell, MLC, in the Legislative Council. Second Reading speeches are available for the House of Assembly and Legislative Council. After the Second Reading speeches explaining the VAD criteria and the way the Bill would operate, debate was adjourned until 2021, when Parliament resumes in early February.
